What to Expect

 

1. A great day on the beach! Rain or shine the games will go on. Bring an umbrella and chairs.

2. BE THERE ON TIME!

3. LOCATION: 110 9th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Make sure your GPS does NOT take you to North Myrtle Beach.You will play at Six Boardwalk courts or on the beach. We will let you know your location in advance. 

4. DROP OFF STUFF then: PARKING GARAGE: 914 Norths King Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. $15 All day parking at the corner of 9th Ave. N and Hwy 17 Business.

5. BATHROOMS: Go just before you get there. We will have portable toilets. The Coffee HOUSE is CLOSED. When Ocean Front, Bowery and other restaurants open. You can use those. Please, support our local businesses.

6. End time depends how far you go. We try our best to keep everything moving along. We ask all competitors to be aware of when they are up next and be ready. Five minute warm ups between sets/matches.

7. OFFICIATING: Players officiate. If you lose in the play-offs you must referee the next match.

8. Bring a pair of SOCKS or SAND SOCKS as the sand can get hot.

9. Each team brings their own ball to warm up with and play. Using OFFICIAL Wilson AVP ball or other appropriate beach volleyball agreed upon by both teams.

10. Pool Play followed by single elimination playoff. PLAYOFF SEEDING: Two way tie in pool play goes to head to head. Three way tie goes to points. ALL TEAMS MAKE PLAYOFFS (weather permitting). EXCEPTION: Open/Pro Men's & Women's tournaments are Double Elimination Match Play format.

11. Many great restaurants at the tournament location.

12. Bring plenty water, Gatorade, etc.

13. Treat it like a day at the beach. Bring chairs, umbrella, sunscreen, coolers, food, towels, etc.

14. MOST TOURNAMENTS: FREE Bananas while supplies last.

16. CANOPY TENTS allowed at 12 Courts around the perimeter. NO canopy tents on the beach, Umbrellas only. 

17. Dogs are allowed other than summer months Memorial Day through Labor Day. Must be on a leash.

18. AVP America MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED

19. AVP America points awarded to National Ranking

20. RAIN POLICY: We will do our best to complete the tournament. We may have to shorten the match/game format in the playoffs to get it done if we have to stop and start. Key is to be flexible. If you decide that you are going to leave then you forfeit your playoff game. We understand and you will not have to ref the next match. Please let us know you are leaving. 

21. REFUND POLICY: If we make it through pool play there is no refund. If we have to stop the tournament completely in the playoffs, we revert back to the standings after pool play to determine the final results for the teams remaining in the playoffs. For juniors prizes will be awarded to the winners. If we get at least half way through pool play you will be refunded half your entry fee. Very unlikely, if the weather forecast was going to be that bad we would likely postpone the tournament and try and do it the following day.
